Completed in August 15th, 2011
First, about the New Jerusalem Well, I can't express the extent of my gratitude to all who donated towards the construction of our first Well. Last Tuesday (July 19, 2011) we blessed the start of the Well construction project. A number of people from the Bunnamweri village gathered to clear the grounds besides the sub-parish Church where the Well is going to be situated. It was a moment of great joy, as you can see from some of the pictures on the left.
After consultation with the intended beneficiaries of the Well, and surveying the grounds, we came to the conclusion that it was too risky to try to dig to the water table, and pump water vertically. The possibility of reaching sufficient water within 150 feet was very slim. The safer course was to extend water from Mpigi Town to Bunnamweri village, a distance of about one and half kilometers. Although this was a little more costly than our budget, we decided to steam ahead. Fortunately, Mpigi Town Water Authority offered to make up for the difference. Thus, we were able to get started.
So far, about three quarters of the necessary ground excavation has been done. We hope that by the middle of next week, experts will start to lay water pipes from Mbaale to Bunnamweri. God willing, we shall have "springs of water" and fountains splashing at Bunnamweri sub-parish Church by August 15, 2011. Thank you for all the good will and support!
The New Jerusalem Well is done."Water ... Water ... finally it is here! Who knew ...? God is so good! Thank you so much!" These are the words (translated literally from Luganda into English) that rung into the heavens as the first gush of clean water rushed, like a fountain, out of the recently completed New Jerusalem. They were spoken by Mrs. Nakatudde, a young lady in her 60s as she drew water for the first time from the New Jerusalem well.
The people of Bunnamweri and SSFOH wish to extend our since gratitude to all our dear sponsors who contributed toward the construction of the New Jerusalem Well. The well as completed, blessed, and open for the benefit of needy people on August 15, 2011 in the midst of great jubilation. The words of Jesus in Mt 25:31ff are well spoken of you. "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink ..." Not merely a drink but life! May you receive the water given by Him, that you will never thirst, a fountain within you, leaping up to eternal life!
